Sandro Steinbach, Director of the Center for Agricultural Policy and Trade Studies at NDSU, along with collaborators Colin A. Carter from the University of California, Davis, Carlos Zurita at NDSU and Yasin Yildirim, an NDSU doctoral candidate, have been awarded Honorable Mention for the 2025 Bruce Gardner Memorial Prize for Applied Policy Analysis by the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association.

This prestigious award honors outstanding impact on agricultural and related policy, grounded in sound economic theory, reflecting the legacy of Bruce Gardner. The team's extensive research has provided critical insights into the effects of trade policies, retaliatory tariffs and supply chain disruptions on U.S. agriculture. Their work has informed policymakers, industry stakeholders, and the broader public, contributing to more effective public policy discussions.

Steinbach noted, "Our goal is to produce research that advances academic understanding and equips policymakers and industry leaders with the tools they need to make informed decisions."

The team's contributions exemplify NDSU's commitment to research that addresses real-world challenges and supports the agricultural community.
