Future Deadlines
Degrees are officially posted three times each academic year: in December, May, and August.
To ensure your degree posts in your desired semester, plan ahead! You'll need to submit your disquisition to the Graduate School for its initial review approximately one month before the end of that semester.
All final revisions to your disquisition must be completed and submitted by 11:59 p.m. on the very last day of the semester for your degree to be officially posted. Don't miss that final deadline!
Graduation or Commencement
There's often confusion between graduation and commencement, but they're actually two different things.
Graduation is when you've officially finished all your degree requirements. Your official graduation date is when your degree is formally awarded. You'll receive your actual diploma regardless of whether you attend any ceremony.
Commencement is the ceremony itself—the big event where your achievements are celebrated. At the ceremony, you will receive your diploma cover, though your diploma will be mailed to you later. Keep in mind that you can absolutely graduate (meaning you've earned your degree) without attending the commencement ceremony.
